Session I

Multi Cultural Art: Aboriginal Art

Aboriginal art is art made by indigenous Australian people. Australian Indigenous art is the oldest ongoing tradition of art in the world. Initial forms of artistic Aboriginal expression were rock carvings, body painting and ground designs, which date back more than 30,000 years ago. Symbols are used in aboriginal art to show different things. Aboriginal art is a language in itself, communicating through beautiful patterns.

We will study the history of this art form and create a dot painting of our own.

Drawing: Line
This semester I will be teaching a series of drawing classes that focus on the elements of design.
During this class we will focus on line and how it helps us create art through a series of drawings.

Session II 

Painting: acrylic landscapes

We will learn about composition and some basic acrylic painting techniques as we create landscape paintings.

Drawing: Texture
This semester I will be teaching a series of drawing classes that focus on the elements of design.
During this class we will focus on how to create visual texture through a series of drawings.

Session III

Illustration: Fiona French
Fiona French is an illustrator of many children's books. We will study her unique art style and focus on our own story telling piece of art using watercolor and pen and ink.

Multicultural Art: Ancient Greece
In this class we will focus on the art of ancient Greece. We will learn about their architecture, pottery, and sculptures and create some of our own work inspired by the Greeks.

Famous Artist: MC Escher 
In this class we will have fun combining math and art as we learn all about the life and work of M.C. Escher. We will use the elements and principles of design to create interesting and one of a kind tessellations. We will   increase our art vocabulary and understanding of what makes an artwork successful.
