Summer Art Camps 2015

Story Quilt Paintings
June 1-4
4 classes 10-11:00am each day Mon-Thurs
ages 5 and up
Fees = $36

In this class we will study the work of artist and illustrator Faith Ringgold. We will make a series of painted papers to use as quilt blocks. We will design an illustration to tell a story and we will use crayon resist and watercolor painting to complete it. We will
put together all of the elements to create a large story quilt painting.


Pop up and Movable Illustrations

June 8-11
4 classes 10-11:00am each day Mon-Thurs
ages 5 and up
Fees = $36

Ever wanted to make a card or a book with moving parts or images that pop up? This is the class for you! In this class we will begin by creating a series of painted papers to use in collaboration to create animals and bugs in the style of artist and illustrator Steve Jenkins. We will then create a page layout as a background and add our animals and bugs as pop up and / or movable illustrations! Lots of painting, cutting, and gluing!

Water Color painting
June 15-18
4 classes 10-11:00am each day Mon-Thurs
ages 5 and up
Fees = $36

Learn some skills to enhance your watercolor paintings. In this class we will be learning several watercolor techniques. We will also study color theory and color mixing. We will use this information to create some wonderful finished paintings.










Paper Mache Animals
June 22-25
4 classes 10-11:00am each day Mon-Thurs
ages 5 and up
Fees = $36

Get ready to be creative and be messy! This class is a lot of fun. We will create an armature for our creature, cover it in a couple of layers of paper mache, and add details in paper mache clay. Finally we will complete our sculptures by painting them in acrylic based paints. It is important to dress for the mess in this class.
