Adult and teen Classes

Textile Painting - a study of Batik
The art of decorating cloth in this way, using wax and dye, has been practiced for centuries. In Java, Indonesia, batik is part of an ancient tradition, and some of the finest batik cloth in the world is still made there.
Students will study the way these beautiful textiles are created in Indonesia and then create a design of their own that will be transferred to fabric using glue rather than wax. Students will paint their fabric and then wash out the glue leaving them with a one of a kind piece of fabric.
